Psalm 37:4 (ESV)
Delight yourself in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
1 Corinthians 2:9-10
“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
Romans 12:6-8
Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; 7 if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.
Matthew 6:33
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
“I’m afraid many of us read this backward. We want everything the world has to offer, and then we’ll seek God. But that isn’t the way it works. You can’t seek God second or third of tenth and expect Him to give you the desires of your heart. Seeking God first is delighting in the Lord. Seeking God first is giving Him the first word and the last word. Seeking God first is making sure His voice is the loudest voice in your life. In the apostle Paul’s words, “I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.” (Phil. 3:8) Then and only then will God speak to us in the language of desires. He’ll change our desires, intensify our desires, and upload new desires within us. Those desires actually become spiritual compasses by which we navigate the will of God.”
