I'm Worried

Psalm 46 is a powerful psalm that speaks to God's strength and protection. The writer says that even if everything around them falls apart, they know that God is still with them and that he can protect them. The writer talks about how the earth itself can quake and mountains can crumble, but God is still a strong fortress for his people. They say that they don't have to be afraid, no matter what happens, because God is always there to help them.

The writer encourages everyone to just be still and know that God is God, and that he will always be there to help and protect us. It's a psalm that reminds us of God's constant presence in our lives and the peace that comes from trusting in him.

Guided prayer: “My worries feel all-consuming right now. Quiet my anxious thoughts, God, and help me rest in the knowledge of who you are. You are more powerful and capable than I can imagine. Help me to trust that you're in control of all things. Amen.”

God is our refuge and strength,

a very present help in trouble.

Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,

though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,

though its waters roar and foam,

though the mountains tremble at its swelling.

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,

the holy habitation of the Most High.

God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved;

God will help her when morning dawns.

The nations rage, the kingdoms totter;

he utters his voice, the earth melts.

The Lord of hosts is with us;

the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Come, behold the works of the Lord,

how he has brought desolations on the earth.

He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;

he breaks the bow and shatters the spear;

he burns the chariots with fire.

“Be still, and know that I am God.

I will be exalted among the nations,

I will be exalted in the earth!”

The Lord of hosts is with us;

the God of Jacob is our fortress.
