I'm in Awe
Psalm 8 is a beautiful psalm where David marvels at the wonder of God's creation. He looks up at the stars and the moon and the sky, and is blown away by how amazing everything is. David asks God, "Who are we, that you would care for us?" He's just amazed that God would create us and love us so much.
David talks about how God made us rulers over everything on earth, and how we're supposed to take care of it all. It's like David is realizing that we're extremely small in the grand scheme of things, but God still loves and cares for us deeply. The psalm ends with a declaration of praise to God for his incredible works and amazing love. It reminds us how awesome God is and how much he loves us, even though we're just small beings in this big universe.
Guided prayer: “God, you're amazing! Thank you for surrounding me with such a beautiful Earth. When I stop and look around, I’m reminded of how mighty you are. It’s humbling to know that you made all of this and thought of me, too. Thank you! Amen.”
Psalm 8
O Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory above the heavens.
Out of the mouth of babies and infants,
you have established strength because of your foes,
to still the enemy and the avenger.
When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
what is man that you are mindful of him,
and the son of man that you care for him?
Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings
and crowned him with glory and honor.
You have given him dominion over the works of your hands;
you have put all things under his feet,
all sheep and oxen,
and also the beasts of the field,
the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea,
whatever passes along the paths of the seas.
O Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
